19-Year-Old Killed in Fatal Accident on San Diego Avenue in Fresno

FRESNO, CA (May 3, 2021) – Early Friday evening, a 19-year-old driver was killed in a 2-car deadly crash on Belmont Avenue.

According to California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident took place around 6:20 p.m. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.

For reasons not yet known, the 19-year-old driver was speeding south on San Diego Avenue when they failed to stop at the intersection. As a result, the Chevrolet struck the left side of an eastbound Freightliner that was hauling an empty 53 foot box trailer.

Amidst the chaos, the teen suffered critical injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the 19-year-old victim dead on scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Freightliner, a 55-year-old man, remained unharmed. In addition, he stayed on scene and cooperated with the authorities.

At this time, officers have ruled out drugs or alcohol as potential factors in the deadly collision.
