13-Year-Old Boy Killed, 5 Injured in 2-Car Accident near Union Hills Drive
PHOENIX, AZ (August 15, 2022) – Thursday night, a 13-year-old boy was killed and multiple were hurt in a rollover accident on Interstate 17.
Authorities responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m., near Union Hills Drive on August 11th.
According to police, the driver of a dark-colored SUV lost control and struck a white SUV. Upon impact, both vehicles overturned, ejecting the teen boy from the vehicle onto the road.
Medics arrived and pronounced the 13-year-old boy, who was sitting in the front seat, dead at the scene.
In addition, three occupants from the dark SUV and the driver and passenger of the white SUV were also critically injured. Although, officers have not yet released their identities.
Following preliminary duties, police say impairment was not a factor. Crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened. Once available, further details will be provided about the deadly rollover accident on Interstate 17.
