Ted Williams, who became an overnight sensation after being profiled in the Columbus Dispatch newspaper, which noted is extraordinary vocal chords and his dreams of being a voice-over artist, was detained in Hollywood Monday night.

Welcome to L.A., Ted!

The 53-year-old, who was given commercial work by Kraft and offered a gig by the Cleveland Cavaliers following the profile, which observed him begging at the side of a road, was detained following a disturbance at Hollywood's Renaissance Hotel, police said.

He was not arrested.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the disturbance involved an “altercation” with his daughter.

He was in L.A to make appearances on television shows, including Entertainment Tonight.

Following his discovery, Williams said, “There's no way in the world that I could have ever imagined that I would be — I mean, just have all of this just all of a sudden come into this portion of my life.”

Update: Police said they went to the hotel at 1755 N. Highland Ave. about 9 p.m. to investigate a report of a disturbance. Williams and his daughter were hauled to the LAPD's Hollywood station for questioning but were released.
