The 2014 TCM Classic Film Festival's second of four days continues its array of amazing oldies. Bright and early at 9 a.m. is Elia Kazan's loose adaptation of John Steinbeck's East of Eden (starring James Dean in his first major role, as Cal), at the Chinese Multiplex 1, and the first of The Thin Man comedy-detective film series, which follows married couple Nick (William Powell) and Nora Charles (Myrna Loy) and their extremely clever dog, Asta, at the Egyptian Theatre. Also on Friday's lineup is Meet Me in St. Louis at 3 p.m. at the TCL Chinese IMAX theater. As a special treat, the flour-throwing Tootie herself, Margaret O'Brien, will participate in a discussion of this vibrant musical. For the full schedule, go to filmfestival.tcm.com.

Then, at UCLA's Billy Wilder Theater, Robert Altman: A Retrospective continues with Brewster McCloud at 7:30 p.m. In this modern take on the Icarus myth, reclusive Brewster (Bud Cort) hides under the Houston Astrodome, where he dreams of flying and dedicates himself to constructing wings. This series runs through July 6.

Also on Friday is a double feature of Last Tango in Paris and Reflections in a Golden Eye at 7:30 p.m. (and encore on Saturday at 7 p.m.) at the New Beverly Cinema. Last Tango, the erotic NC-17 film, finds Brando as a middle-aged widower who begins a purely sexual affair with a young Parisian woman after his wife's suicide. Then, Brando is Major Weldon Penderton, with Elizabeth Taylor playing his wife, Lenora, in Reflections, a tale of six people who get entrenched in a web of sex, lies and dark desires. The theater's Marlon Brando at 90 series runs through April 17.

The Malcolm McDowell Series of Q&A Screenings comes to an end with a career highlight: Star Trek: Generations, the seventh feature in the franchise. McDowell plays Dr. Tolian Soran, whose desire to return to the Nexus at whatever cost forces Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) to intervene. The screening will be preceded by a Q&A session with McDowell, moderated by Michael Dorn (Lt. Commander Worf), at the Alex Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
