40-Year-Old Tapaita Stovall Killed; 24-Year-old Tuuika Salt Arrested in DUI Collision on Santa Inez Avenue

SAN MATEO, CA (October 4, 2021) Tapaita Stovall, 40, of San Mateo, died in a suspected DUI collision on Santa Inez Avenue on Sunday evening.

The tragic accident happened shortly before 5:00 p.m., September 26, at the intersection of Santa Inez Avenue and Humboldt Street.

According to reports, driver Tuuika Salt, 24, of San Mateo collided with two other vehicles on the roadway, reportedly under the influence.

Responding medics took Salt’s passenger to the hospital where they later died. Authorities now identified the victim as 40-year-old San Mateo resident Tapaita Stovall.

Eventually, the police arrested Salt and was booked into the county’s Maple Street jail on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing great bodily injury.
