Given L.A.'s reinvigorated interest in studying and preserving its architectural history, it's only fitting that the city is playing host to the Architecture and Design Film Festival – a five-day symposium of films, discussions and book signings for the edifice-minded. The site is the Los Angeles Theatre Center, itself a recently renovated jewel in downtown's landmark building-design crown. Check the website for an extensive run-down of speakers and events, featuring dozens of high-profile and up-and-coming voices, and more than 30 films both short-form and feature-length, curated into thematic programs. Single-event tickets and festival passes are available, and the panel discussions are all free to attend. Be sure to leave yourself extra time to take a walk around the historic core neighborhood – an area famously crowded with architectural riches of its own. Los Angeles Theatre Center, 514 S. Spring St., dwntwn.; Wed., March 12-Sun., March 16, various times; $14-$130. (213) 489-0994, adfilmfest.com.
