On Saturday, Jan. 20, half a million people gathered in downtown Los Angeles. In the morning the crowd quickly outgrew Pershing Square and the March itself went on for more than an hour, taking over three streets at the same time.
As much a March against Trump as anything else, the Women's March highlights the anger so many people feel, which isn't going away, over the Electoral College allowing the candidate who lost by more than 3 million votes to become president of the United States.
While there was a rally with celebrity speakers at the end of the March, the majority of the protesters weren't there for the celebrities but instead to try to find comfort for themselves with the knowledge that we aren't going to allow the conduct of 45 to become normal. That every Stormy Daniels, every off-the-books Russia meeting, every money-laundering scam dressed up as a real estate deal will be accounted for. That eventually it has to matter, there have to be consequences, and until there are we will march, and protest, and vote.
