A man who was killed in a car to car shooting in South Los Angeles April 6 has been identified as 30-year-old Taishawn Wallace.

That night, police responded to a 11:30 p.m. call of a traffic accident near 54th Street and Broadway.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they found Wallace suffering from two gunshot wounds. Police believe Wallace, who was not a gang member and did not live in the area, was mistaken for a rival gang member. “He was the intended target but I don't think he was the gang they were looking for,” said LAPD Newton Division homicide supervisor Kelle Baitx. Wallace was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. Police arrested two suspects on April 12. Anyone with information about the shooting should contact LAPD Newton Division homicide detectives at (323) 846-6556.
