In comparison to local events like Anime Los Angeles and mega-convention Anime Expo, Mikomicon is a small gathering for lovers of Japanese animation and comics, but still draws several hundred fans to California State University Northridge annually. Sunday, I headed out to the convention to check out one of its highlights, a performance from Jishin Taiko Ensemble.

Founded in 1995, Jishin Taiko is a student performance group at CSUN specializing in the ancient and physically demanding Japanese drumming art form. Last weekend, the ensemble performed both traditional pieces and original work, which we caught on video below.
