Sad news: One of our favorite Eat This Now finds has closed. Tacos Carmelita, a shoebox of a shop dishing tacos de guisado in the long shadow of Langer's has gone out of business.

We fear that the attention (from us and other outlets) may have inspired The Man to crack down on the humble, Mexico City-style taqueria. (Something to do with sales tax.) We were big fans of the chicharrón in salsa verde, the chicken-on-the-bone in chipotle crema and the picadillo made with ground beef, potatoes, green peas and carrots.

The logo has been painted over, the walls are bare, but a new taqueria sits in its place. Is it the same owners under a new name? Or is it a totally different taqueria? Details to come.
