28-Year-Old Homeless Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Central Fresno

FRESNO, CA (April 13, 2021) – 28-year-old Sydney Barron died after a pedestrian accident in a parking lot on Shields and West Avenues, Sunday morning.

The fatal accident happened in the parking lot of the 99 Cent Only store on the southeast corner of Shields and West Avenues around 8:20 a.m., on April 4.

Per reports, Barron was lying on the ground in the parking lot of the store when a car driving through the lot did not notice her and struck her.

Firefighters had to pull her from under the car in order to rescue her, and she was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The woman was homeless, according to authorities, and it is unknown why she was on the ground.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle who ran her over stayed and cooperated with the police.

Authorities did not consider drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the accident. An investigation is currently underway.
