Swing Melii’s Way: Genre-blending singer and songwriter Melii has released new track “Mala,” the first single from forthcoming album Medusa.

“Mala is a track speaking on choosing to be a baddie and not really being in your feelings and encouraging women to step in their element always,” Melii said in a statement. “Like I say in the lyrics  ‘the girls who get it they get the girls that didn’t tell them swing my way’.”

Malii is a Dominican artist, and there’s a definite Caribbean flavor, mixed with Latin vibes, to this catchy summer jam.

According to the press release: “The Dominican singer is also launching her new content series ‘Melii Mondays’ where she releases a music video every Monday until August 8th. On July 11th, fans can look forward to the sultry music video for ‘Mala.’ ‘Mala’ follows the release of Melii’s braggadocious single ‘Cartier,’ as well as her R&B two-pack  Winter in New York City.”

Press bio:

“Born with the natural gift of entertaining and a love of music, Audrey Ducasse, more commonly known as Melii, has been a star in the making and cross genre shining recording artist since her early years. An artist whose charismatic demeanor, contagious flow and unique voice brought her a ranking as #6 on Billboard’s 2018 Next Big Sound Chart, Melii has been solidifying her position in music as a force to be reckoned with. From performing in her family living room to packed out festivals, the Harlem native continues to make a name for herself and has landed collaborations with Beyonce’s Ivy Park Winter Campaign and Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty Music. With hit collaborations on singles such as “HML” featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie (Peaking at #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 R&B Songs Chart), “You Ain’t Worth It” featuring 6lack, and Tory Lanez’ “Big Tipper” featuring herself and Lil Wayne, the Dominican entertainer has found herself as part of some of the biggest stages in the country including multiple Rolling Loud performances, Made in America, H.E.R.’s Lights On festival, Meek Mill’s Champion Tour, Summer Walker’s The First and Last Tour, and more. She scored her first Billboard Top 10 slot peaking at #10 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Chart as a featured artist on Meek Mill’s “Wit The Shits (WTS) record.”

“Raised in New York the triple threat creator is the product of two equally driven and motivating parents who encouraged her to pursue her dreams. Having always gravitated towards music, the vocalist participated in musicals and talent shows growing up, but didn’t start her musical career until she was 16. She began to gain fame after the success of her rendition of Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow ” and was soon after signed to her first record label, where she dropped her debut project phAses in 2019. Melii followed that with her EP Motions in the fall of 2019. Through her unique style and mixing R&B with rap hooks, Melii’s single “Icey” was featured in Ivy Park’s Winter Campaign and has since then released hit tracks including “No Hard Feelings.” Musically inspired by the industry’s very best such as Amy Winehouse, Jhene Aiko, Nicki Minaj, Drake and PartyNextDoor, the songwriter’s versatility and ability to combine and jump from genre to genre has quickly made her one of a kind. An expert in writing relatable lyrics that connect with her fans and pull at their heart strings, Melii dropped an R&B pack Winter in New York City in December 2021 as a Christmas gift to her supporters while she currently works on her forthcoming debut studio album.”
