Don't know about you, but it seems to us the but first a selfie meme is being taken to the extreme by some young people these days. (As in, Yeah, we're about to get arrested … but first a selfie).

In this case, a young woman is caught on security video during a burglary in an exclusive neighborhood, namely Bel Air. She lounges on a patio bench, pulls her phone out of her pocket, and appears to give herself the but-first-a-selfie treatment before she and four others allegedly make off with loot.

Here's what the Los Angeles Police Department says happened:

]

On Aug. 29 about 3 p.m. five suspects broke into a home in the 15000 block of Hamner Drive “by  smashing the rear master bedroom window,” according to an LAPD statement.

Security cameras apparently caught the geniuses both inside and outside the manse.

Police allege the crew took cash, electronics and even U.S. passports. Not only that, but detectives believe this group has carried out similar smash-and-grabs in the neighborhood.

Three males in the group wear hoodies and mask their faces, but two young women appear to hang out on a patio or porch, where their likenesses are fairly clear to see.

The haul was reportedly worth more than $30,000. Sounds professional. But no.

A young woman described as 5 feet, 2 inches, 120 pounds casually chit-chats with a suspected accomplice while pulling her braided hair up into a bun and eventually appearing to crack a smile for a selfie.

Here are the LAPD's descriptions of the other suspects, all Latino:

Suspect #1 … stands approximately 5'10″ tall and weighs around 170 pounds and has a dark mustache. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark shorts with two large Aztec male images on the front, red and black sneakers and wearing black and tan gloves
