After a shooting inside a Regal movie theater in Corona, suspect Joseph Jimenez was arrested and charged with murder, appearing in court July 30.

The shooting occurred Monday, July 26, with the two victims suffering gunshot wounds inside an auditorium showing a 9:30 p.m. screening of The Forever Purge.

Corona Police Department revealed that victim Rylee Goodrich, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Anthony Barajas, 19, was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Saturday, July 31.

Barajas was a popular figure on the social media platform TikTok, where he had nearly 1 million followers.

“We do not have a motive for this unprovoked crime and there is no information that the suspect and the victims had any prior contact before these crimes took place,” Corona PD said in a media briefing Wednesday, July 28. “We can’t imagine the significant amount of pain that both families and the friends are both feeling right now, but we hope the suspect’s arrest will bring some relief, knowing he’s in jail now.”

The suspect was found in a residence in unincorporated Corona, also retrieving a firearm that police believe was the same caliber used on-scene. There are currently no gang ties attached to Jimenez.

Jimenez was charged with one count of murder and authorities said a second charge may be added after the death of Barajas. He is also being held on $2 million bond.

Go Fund Me fundraisers were created for both Barajas and Goodrich, with both meeting their goals.
