Driver Detained after Possible DUI Collision near Camp Pendleton

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 11, 2021) – Authorities arrested an unidentified driver early Sunday morning, after a DUI crash on 5 Freeway.

Officers inside the building heard a loud noise around 12:30 a.m., at a CHP checkpoint building near Camp Pendleton along Interstate 5.

According to reports, the driver veered off northbound Interstate 5 and slammed into a building for suspected DUI reasons. Responding medics attended to the injured driver at the scene.

Moreover, the driver was able to exit the vehicle before it bursted into flames. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers.

Authorities later arrested the driver for DUI, but have not released further information. Once available, more details will be provided.
