Former Survivor show producer Bruce Beresford-Redman took out life insurance policies the week before she was found dead in Mexico, ABC News reported this week. The Rancho Palos Verdes man was suspected by Mexican authorities of killing Monica Beresford-Redman as the couple vacationed with their children in Cancun last month.

The policies included one for accidental death, worth $50,000, and another for $500,000, according to ABC. The station also stated he took out life insurance on their children. At the same time, TMZ reported that Mexican authorities, who had taken the producer's passport and ordered him to stay in the country, were on the verge of charging Bruce Beresford-Redman with murder. The process, however, takes some time, the site noted.

Despite the warnings, Bruce Beresford-Redman slipped back into the U.S. last weekend and has been spotted at his home in Rancho Palos Verdes. His attorney stated that he was under no legal obligation, such as a court order, to stay south of the border.

Monica Beresford-Redman was a beloved figure in L.A.s Brazilian community. She owned Palms eatery and venue Zabumba. Her body was found April 8 near the resort hotel where the couple was staying with their children. Witnesses reported hearing the couple arguing the night before she went missing.

Criminal defense attorney Roy Black told the network that the life-insurance revelation “adds to evidence of motive.”
