Bruce Beresford-Redman, a producer of the CBS television series Survivor, was being held and questioned in connection with the death of his wife, the owner of popular Palms Brazilian restaurant Zabumba.

According to a radio report from Cancun, Monica Beresford-Redman's body was found Thursday in a cistern at the Moon Palace Hotel in the Mexican resort city. (KTLA News reported the woman's body was found in a sewer). The couple had been on a family vacation there with their children. The Rancho Palos Verdes woman was reportedly last seen shopping in Cancun on Monday.

The woman's sister, Carla Burgos, said Monica Beresford-Redman left her mobile phone and passport in her hotel room, but that her credit cards were gone, acording to CBS2 news. Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials took a missing person's report and notified the U.S. Embassy in Cancun before news broke of her demise.

Witnesses told authorities they had seen the couple arguing earlier in the week, according to KTLA News. The station reports she had possibly been strangled.
