I absolutely love hosting luncheons at Sugar Taco. Sugar Taco is a women’s owned vegan Mexican restaurant that I am an investor in. We have locations in L.A. and Sherman Oaks. The atmosphere is very bright and welcoming and don’t get me started on the yummy vegan tacos and margaritas. I wanted to start by sharing and highlighting a few women who I had the pleasure of hosting this past week and who have worked extremely hard with starting their own businesses while always supporting one another.
Kim Shapira is a registered dietitian with a background in human metabolism and clinical nutrition from Boston University. She helps people heal their relationship with food, spending the last 24 years helping people lose weight and keep it off. Her success rate has been over 98% in her clients keeping it off and creating confidence within themselves.
Karyn is building one of the best-kept secrets in kid’s vitamins to be number #1 in the kid’s supplement category with ChildLife Essentials. Since beginning with Childlife, two years ago, she has increased sales and distribution by 20% year over year.
Kodye Elyse is a mother of three and is a content creator with a passion for women empowerment. Her message that resonates across all platforms is “in order to be the best version of yourself, and for your children, one needs to prioritize self-care.”
Shelene Bryan is a former Hollywood producer who left her job in Hollywood to start Skip1.org, a charity that builds kitchens and provides food and clean water to children and families in need. She is an accomplished speaker, the creator of @thesplashpodcast, and is a best-selling author of Love Skip Jump and Ridiculous Faith.
Chrissy and Nicole are two sisters that have built one of the most unique agencies known for connecting brands, celebrities and consumers. Most recently the sisters co-founded K-beauty brand, Aloisia Beauty alongside their partners making the business female-founded.
Kristen Perkins is an NBR extension specialist/hairstylist based out of Santa Clarita (just north of L.A.) and has been doing hair for 15 years. She owns a women-owned business called salt and freckles alongside her two sisters.
Jesyka Harris is a fashion model, attorney, TV host, social media creator, avid traveler and human rights advocate based in Los Angeles. Jesyka uses her unique background to mentor women in their educational and career aspirations and has built a social media community based on purpose-driven content.
Deanna Stagliano is a former Bachelorette who found love outside of the show and continues to work in the entertainment industry as one of the hosts of the Flashbacks podcast at action park media group. She’s also a working mom of two who manages her cooperate flight attendant job.
I started doing these luncheons to create a space where these incredibly hard-working women could find community and support for their business endeavors. This lunch allows for these women to connect, acknowledge and celebrate all that they have accomplished! Women are resilient and ever-growing.
