As part of a “Take Back the Night” event at Cal State Long Beach, organizers will denounce the slashing of a transgender male that took place on April 15 in a restroom on that campus.

The 27-year-old victim, according to news reports, was beaten and then had the word “It” carved into his chest. Long Beach police are still looking for the assailant, who's believed to be a male in his twenties.

The 7 p.m. rally will start at Maxson Plaza on the Cal State Long Beach campus and continue with a candlelight march.

The event has the larger purpose to stop the sexual harassment and abuse of women.
