Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Collision near Camelback Road

PHOENIX, AZ (February 8, 2022) – Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Rosa Mroz died after a crash near 56th Street Wednesday morning.

The collision happened near 56th Street and Camelback Road around 9:15 a.m.

As per the preliminary report, the driver of the black Hyundai was heading east and failed to stop for a red traffic signal light. As a result, the vehicle struck Mroz while she was crossing inside the marked crosswalk.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. However, it is uncertain if charges will be filed against the driver.

On Saturday, Mroz died due to the extent of her injuries, authorities said. Prior to her death, Mroz was assigned to the criminal department of the Maricopa County Judicial Branch.
