Are you ready for some … jail?

Thought so.

Nothing like a few bars to make a big, football-loving brawler turn into a bawl-er.

Ever the Buzz Killington, the LAPD is going balls out — no pun intended — for Superbowl weekend, including a “saturation patrol” and DUI checkpoints.

We're putting our money on them. So here's the deal, sports fans:

-Tonight there's a DUI checkpoint at Vermont Avenue and 5th Street in eastern Koreatown from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

-Saturday there's a checkpoint at Foothill Boulevard and Hubbard Street in Sylmar from 8 to 2.

-And on game day there's a DUI saturation patrol in the LAPD's 77th Street Division (PDF map) area in South L.A. from noon to 8 p.m.

Even if you plan to keep it cozy at home the department warns that “you can be held liable and prosecuted if someone you served ends up in a drunk-driving crash.”

The LAPD wants you to be aware of how much alcohol is on hand if you're hosting a Superbowl party — and it asks that you designate sober drivers for your pals.

LAPD Capt. Ivan Minsal must have hired away a writer from Family Guy, because he made us laugh but, at the same time, conveyed a reasonable message:

Make the right play and pass your keys to a designated driver so they can get you home safely. There is no excuse to get flagged for a false start.

Right? So, yeah, don't get tackled by these coppers.
