The dude looks like a cross between a Deadhead and a pimp, but make no mistake — when Tommie Sunshine gets on the decks, he ain’t truckin’ or trickin’. Sunshine’s all about taking indie rock and dance punk to new heights, speeding it up and tweaking it just so to create an entrancing new electro experience. The NYC club king has brought out the best in cuts by the likes of the Gossip and Peaches. We actually prefer his version of “Boys Wanna Be Her” to the original. The artists he remixes must like his treatments too: Three of ’em — Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Johan Bengtsson of the Sounds, and Peaches herself — make an appearance on “Dance Among The Ruins,” the sole original track off Sunshine’s new release, Ultra Rock Remixed, which is sure to get plenty of play at this gig. Shine on, shaggy ones, shine on. Club 82 at Avalon, 1735 Vine St., Hlywd.; Fri., May 25, 10 p.m.-3 a.m.; over 18. (323) 462-8900.
