2 Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision on Sports Arena Boulevard

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 11, 2022) – Saturday evening, Suad Alsamarai and Ahmed Mazin Salah Alrawi died in a crash on Rosecrans Street.

According to reports, the incident happened around 9:06 p.m., on Rosecrans Street at Sports Arena Boulevard.

Investigators said a 31-year-old man was speeding west in a 1999 Toyota Tacoma truck. For reasons unknown, he struck the median and went airborne.

As a result, the truck eventually landed on top of a northbound 2015 Toyota Sienna van at the 3800 block of Rosecrans Street. Reports indicate that the Toyota was occupied by four people.

Medics arrived and pronounced 81-year-old Alsamarai and 23-year-old Mazin Salah Alrawi, dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the other passengers inside the van sustained back injuries. The 31-year-old male pick-up driver suffered broken bones and other significant injuries.
