The old Hyatt West Hollywood (unofficially known as “the riot house”) on the Sunset Strip is re-opening this January 8 as the Andaz West Hollywood. It's employees won't be wearing just any old thing, however. WWD reports that management brought in a stylist to school employees on fashion. Instead of uniforms, they'll be wearing stuff by local designers:

Rather than wear a standard suit or uniform, employees can choose from a variety of items from the holiday 2008 Velvet [by Graham & Spencer] collection and spring 2009 Vince collection…”We wanted to make sure that our attire did not define specific roles at the hotel but rather it defined our employees' personal taste in fashion,” hotel general manager Michel Morauw said.

Riiiight. Personal taste. Could Los Angeles possibly get more superficial? No. Didn't think so. And good thing, because I hate it when the bellhop brings up my luggage in an actual bellhop uniform. And that chambermaid better be wearing five-inch stilettos when she turns down my bed, or there will be hell to pay. Hell. To. Pay.
