Maybe you've checked out Susan Feniger's Street, read Jonathan Gold's First Bite about it, you saw Inky's piece about Street TV. Maybe you've even checked out Street's playlists on iTunes. But besides the Malaysian Black Pepper Clams, there's another reason to visit Street, and her name is Betty Bryant.

The Betty Bryant Trio performs live jazz in the upstairs loft at Street. And even without the clams (or the Cantaloupe and Beet Agua Fresca), the Trio is well worth the trip. The 79-year-old pianist/vocalist is a classy veteran of LA's jazz scene, and her sound is sophisticated and light, with a hint of her Kansas City Blues roots.

Feniger met Bryant over 20 years ago, at the old Bob Burns in Santa Monica. (Where Houston's is now.) Bob Burns was the spot where Feniger went to relax and hang out after long, late nights at Border Grill, and Bryant played there with her quartet. Feniger told Bryant way back then, she'd have her own restaurant someday, and when she did, she'd hire Bryant to play.

They've kept in touch over the years, and now that Feniger has her own restaurant, she's hired Bryant. Nice. You can hear for yourself on Thursday nights from 7 until 11, and on Sundays from 7 until 10.

Susan Feniger's Street: 742 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood; (323) 203-0500.
