Shelley Leopold's story on MOCA's upcoming “Art in the Streets” show — sure to be the definitive story on the exhibit — is now posted online.

Shelley, the Weekly's resident street art expert, captures the clash between the street art/graffiti world and the museum world, and the difficulty of bringing the two together. As she writes:

…some artists, the ones who have done the most damage on the streets, are less able to translate their work to a gallery or museum setting. Much of the wow factor in street art is the prowess of placement and surprise of discovery.

The story will appear in print on Thursday, alongside a guide to other street art exhibits going on around town. We'll also be posting lots more street art content online throughout the next few weeks. Stay tuned…
