Highlighting accomplishments and contributions of great Black women, Celebrating Black Women in the Struggle Through History, promises to provide an enlightening and educational online experience. Spotlighting important female figures including Queen Tiye (Egyptian royalty), Harriet Tubman (legendary conductor for the Underground Railroad), and Ida B. Wells ( activist and journalist who crusaded against lynching) and more, the presentation will highlight the lives of female African Americans who made real real social and political change despite all obstacles, an examination with obvious resonance right now. “We acknowledge the importance of feminine energy, her intuition, nurturing spirit and healing nature as we repair ourselves as a people,” note the organizers, who include producers of feature films Walk on the River: A Black History of the Alamo City and Message to the People: A Story of Malcolm X. A live Q&A session follows the presentation. Tickets to participate in the Zoom event are “pay what you’d like.”  Sun., July 19, 7 p.m. More info here.
