The Moth storytelling events, like most live theater and spoken word happenings, have moved to  home streaming for the time being. These online shows take place on different nights around the country and now through the end of June, each city’s speakers tackle the same timely theme: co-habitation. Moth participants’ five-minute stories about “living with someone or something” should provide a fascinating slice of life at a time we all need to connect, relate and feel like we’re not alone. (Georgia’s show is slated for tonight, May 28, New York’s is on June 1st and L.A. Moth-ers will share their prepared tales on June 17; all shows start at 7:30 p.m. PST).  The nonprofit organization behind the The Moth is also gearing up for its big fundraiser called Into the Deep: Hidden Treasures, this Tuesday, June 2 with some big names participating. Guests including comedian Hasan Minhaj, One Day at a Time actress Gloria Calderón Kellett, actor and filmmaker John Turturro and interior design legend Jonathan Adler along with husband, writer/designer Simon Doonan (their NYC is apartment is pictured above) will participate in a “show and tell” live stream, opening up their homes to share a meaningful item that reflects who they are. Proceeds from the virtual event -tickets are $100 (tax-deductable)- will enable The Moth to continue its live shows and storytelling workshops digitally and to support The Moth’s Radio Hour and podcast, its community and education programs, and more.
