The parallels between the black community and the LGBTQ+ community have come into glaring focus this month. The origins of the first gay Pride events were in protest — originally led by black and brown trans women during the Stonewall uprising. HBO is hoping to focus on this important connection with the launch of a new website, Human By Orientation, providing more than 15 daily virtual events for Pride kicking this weekend. Music, a drag brunch, DJ sets, queer comedy and more will be featured. Check out this weekend’s schedule below:

Friday, June 19: Todrick Hall (known for his work on RuPaul’s Drag Race) will present a special live musical performance celebrating Juneteenth (the nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States). As Hall notes in the site’s press materials, “Especially now, it’s so important for black queer artists to have our voices heard. I’m so thankful to HBO for this platform.”

Saturday, June 20: Shangela, Bob the Drag Queen and Eureka O’Hara of We’re Here host a drag brunch to bite into. Chicago-based DJ party Slo ‘Mo spins after.

Sunday, June 21: Choreographer extraordinaire Ryan Heffington (of Silver Lake’s The Sweat Spot) closes out the weekend with a hot dance workout followed by streamed Queer Comedy Night featuring Cameron Esposito and more.

Next week: There’s even more to look forward to including L.A.’s popular Drag Queen Story Hour, a vogueing class with the cast of HBO Max’s Legendary, musical performances by Kim Petras and Janelle Monáe and a lot more. Full schedule here.
