The LA BookFest brings together readers and writers for a day of chats, author readings, book giveaways and even an afterparty with Danny Trejo, who will do a reading the children’s classic Goodnight Moon like only he can. The event will offer a keynote speech by Billions at Play author NJ Ayuk, conversations with with Mitch Albom and Raye Mitchell Esq. and panels covering topics including  Integrity in “Journalism in the Age of COVID-19, Fake News and Partisan Politics,” “The Allure of the Memoir: Telling the Human Story,” and “The World Is Getting Closer: How Digital Media Is Changing Society.” Other participants include Pulitzer-prize winner Connie Schultz (Creators Syndicate) conducting a conversation with Sarah Kendzior, author of Hiding in Plain Sight: The Invention of Donald Trump and the Erosion of America; Sara Winokur, author of Double Blind: The Icelandic Manuscript Murders mixing “Midnight Sun” cocktails; Dacey Villarreal, founder of Art Brut 27, sharing a painting session, and musicians Kiera Lyons and Brandyn Cross performing. Trejo, best known for his acting career and more recently his restaurant chain, is also featuring his first cookbook, Trejo’s Tacos: Recipes and Stories from LA during the online event.
