43-Year-Old Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision near 85th Avenue

PEORIA, AZ (April 13, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, 45-year-old Steven Thomas was killed and another was hospitalized after a 2-car crash on Grand Avenue.

Officers arrived to the scene around 4:00 p.m., near 85th Avenue. The two vehicles involved were described as a silver and white sedan.

Thomas was driving the white sedan southeast on Grand Avenue. Meanwhile, the silver sedan driver was traveling northwest on Grand approaching 83rd Avenue.

Per reports, Thomas failed to yield and attempted to make a left turn onto 85th Avenue when he struck the driver’s side of the silver sedan.

Medics transported 45-year-old Thomas of Peoria, to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead.

Paramedics took the silver sedan driver to a local hospital with critical wounds. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.

Officers shut down U.S 60 Grand Avenue in both directions between 83rd and 87th Avenue for several hours. Road restrictions were later lifted around 8:30 p.m.
