30-Year-Old Teacher Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on Oswald Road

YUBA CITY, CA (March 21, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, Steven Tadeo sustained fatal injuries in a semi-truck versus pickup truck collision on Highway 99. According to the CHP, the incident happened around 12:05 p.m. along SR-99 and Oswald Road. Investigators said a semi-truck stopped and attempted to accelerate to make a left turn back onto the highway. However, the truck went into the path of a northbound 2023 Toyota Tacoma on Highway 99. Subsequently, the impact wedged the Toyota underneath the semi’s trailer. Police said the semi-truck driver contacted 911 and remained at the site of the incident. Unfortunately, the responding officers declared the Tacoma driver dead at the scene. Later, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased driver as 30-year-old Steven Tadeo of Westwood. In the end, Yuba City Officials closed down State Route 99 between Barry Road and Oswald Road for at least two hours to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. Those who witnessed the semi-truck accident can contact the CHP Yuba-Sutter office at (530) 645-6200. The principal of Inspire School of Arts and Science, Becky Brown, confirmed that Tadeo was a faculty member at the school.
No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steven Tadeo.
