Man Fatally Struck by DUI Driver near Rodman Slough in Lake County

LAKE COUNTY, CA (September 24, 2021) – Wednesday morning, Steven Michael Pruitt was arrested after a deadly DUI crash on Nice-Lucerne Cutoff.

Around 7:26 a.m., Pruitt was driving a dark blue Chevrolet Camaro west on the road, just west of Rodman Slough.

There, he veered over the solid double yellow lines and into the oncoming lanes. Shortly after, Pruitt collided head-on with an eastbound green Honda Civic.

The Camaro then came to a rest on the north edge of the cutoff while the Honda stopped on the south edge. Due to the impact of the crash, the Honda driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition, 35-year-old Steven Michael Pruitt of Lakeport, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. His bail is set at $1 million.
