Solo-Vehicle Crash near Sage Canyon Road Left Passenger Dead; Driver Arrested
NAPA COUNTY, CA (September 1, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, a deadly solo-vehicle crash on Highway 128 led to the arrest of Stephen Patterson.
CHP officers responded to the incident around 5:50 a.m. in the area of state Highway 128 and Lower Chiles Valley Road.
Upon arrival, authorities determined that a GMC Yukon SUV going eastbound failed to negotiate a left curve. As a result, the GMC went off the road and rolled over multiple times while going down an embankment.
The passenger inside the SUV sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Napa County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased victim.
Meanwhile, the driver –identified as 54-year-old Stephen Patterson– was transported to a hospital for major injuries.
Police booked Patterson to Napa County Jail for suspicion of felony DUI.
