Pickup-Truck Driver Killed in Head-On Collision on US 95

HAWTHORNE, NV (June 25, 2021) – Monday morning, 39-year-old Stephen McKnight died after colliding with a semi-truck on US 95.

The fatal crash happened around 1:30 a.m., on U.S. Highway 95 south of Hawthorne. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.

According to reports, a deputy attempted to pull McKnight over for speeding on SR 362. He then refused to stop and instead turned southbound on US-95, directly into the path of an oncoming semi.

39-year-old McKnight was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the collision. Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries, according to NHP.

In addition, U.S. 95 was closed for about four hours while the Highway Patrol investigated the crash scene.

At this time, an active investigation remains ongoing. Once available, more information will be released.
