DUI Driver Leaves Two Injured in Wrong-Way Crash

CALIFORNIA CITY, CA (June 1, 2021) – Authorities arrested Stephen Johnson Tuesday, after a DUI collision on Neuralia Road.

The crash happened just before 9:00 a.m., on Neuralia Road. According to CHP, the 27-year-old suspect was driving an eastbound vehicle in the westbound lane.

Shortly after, Johnson collided with a patrol vehicle that was transporting someone to the Kern County Jail at the time. Subsequently, the officer driving as well as the suspect inside the vehicle sustained injuries.

Paramedics arrived and transported both occupants to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

CHP later determined that the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash. Police arrested 27-year-old Stephen Johnson and took him to Kern County Jail.

The surrounding area on Neuralia Road was closed off during cleanup and preliminary duties. But, the roadway has since reopened.
