Iron Comic, the comedy brainchild of Moshe Kasher and Nato Green, is an audience-participation game in which five comedians — Sarah Silverman, ursine chortler Ron Funches, Variety's fair-haired boy Pete Holmes, stone-faced wunderkind Brent Weinbach and one other TBA — do their damnedest to craft sparkling comedy routines in eight pulse-pounding minutes. Audience suggestions drive those eight minutes; inspired by the violently competitive Iron Chef cooking show, Green reveals, “We have the Iron Comics going three rounds. Moshe and I can overrule the audience if we don't like their ideas — comedy is not a democracy, after all — and we're looking for topics that are open-ended enough that five comics can take it different places. All the comics are onstage together, which is one of my favorite things about the show.” Past winner Tig Notaro's victory lap was run around the topic of skullfucking. They set the bar high at Iron Comic. Lower it as you see fit. Also with musical co-host DJ Douggpound, and Garfunkel & Oates performing Iron Comic love themes throughout. Largo at the Coronet, 366 N.
