Happy Star Wars Day, aka May the 4th. The sci-fi classic is still with us even if the force is not, and this date (and this weekend) make for a great excuse to celebrate. The past couple years haven’t been as stellar due to the pandemic, but things are lighting up again. If you have Disney+ you can stay home and watch the entire franchise (plus a documentary released today called Disney Gallery: The Book of Boba Fett) but if you want to go out into the universe, here are four (actually five) out of this world ways to get your Jedi on.

4. Dodgers & Disneyland

Our home team hosts “Star Wars night” at the stadium this evening, with giveaways including R2D2/LA Beanies (while supplies last). Our boys in white and blue are playing NL West Rivals the SF Giants (aka the evil empire) . Info and tickets at https://dodgerblue.com/.

You can also go to Disneyland, which of course has an entire world dedicated to the Star Wars universe, with special surprises this week. Read our report from opening day here.

3. Movies on Location

MOL and My Valley Pass are screening Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens as part of their series in a Van Nuys parking lot– at Neiman & Company, which just so happens to be the original location of Industrial Light & Magic, where the innovative visual effects for Star Wars were created. Pretty cool. Info here.

2. Scum & Villainy Cantina

This raucous Hollywood bar brings together clones, cosplayers and cocktails for it annual ode to George Lucus’ masterpiece. On May the Fourth they’ll have their popular trivia contest and more starry fun, but this place celebrates Luke and Leia life ’round the clock. Info here.

1. Das Bunker

Our favorite industrial dance haven, is doing their annual intergalactic gathering a couple days later (Friday, May 6) so you can storm all night like a trooper.  They’ll have four areas of dancing with Bunker residents on the decks plus special guests Death_Minus (aka John Famiglietti of Health), Televandalist (all video set), and the debut of Disco Maldoror. They’re also adding a VIP area this year called Chewie’s Arcade, with video games, signature drinks, and burlesque performances. Tickets and info at https://dasbunker.org
