Monday night, fans of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Spock, William Adama and more outer space heroes congregated at monthly roller rink party Wumpskate for “Star Skate.” The theme party brought together science fiction tunes (S.P.O.C.K. “Dr. McCoy,” The Timelords “Doctorin' the Tardis”) with costumes and dozens of awesomely geeky t-shirts.
Throughout the course of the night, we wondered, when it comes to the big guns of space opera with “star” in the title, which ones reigns supreme: Star Wars, Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica?

“Stargate! Farscape! Farscape looks pretty, but Stargate is more my thing. I used to watch it with my dad. It's the only thing I've actually watched in its completion as it was airing. But, I like Star Trek. I like Voyager.”
Derek Dixon
Star Wars
I grew up on it, child of the '80s. I love Star Wars. I cheat on Star Wars with Star Trek.
Kat Gresco
Star Wars
Why not? It's by far the superior of the three.
Andrea Caple
Star Wars
It's just more epic. I think it's more imaginative than Star Trek. I'm not as much into the technical sci-fi as I am into the different creatures and worlds and crazy planets.
Lisa Beebe
I don't want to go on record supporting one of them over the others.
Kevin Long
I love them all like they're my children. But, I have to say that the remake of the last Battlestar season is dear to my heart because they should have destroyed it. It should have been awful, but it was fantastic.

Star Trek
I grew up on it. My mom had the original technical manual for the ship from the '60s that had teeth marks from the dog all over it and the original episode guide that had a little turn stylus. You would turn a weird dial, it was part of the book, you would turn the dial and it would tell you what number was what episode.

Star Wars
You can learn a lot from Star Wars. You can learn self-discipline…I love all the sci-fi stuff, but I think it's what you can learn from Star Wars, which is why I like it better than all the other ones.
Quang Bui
Star Wars
In the diversity of their world, it covers so much more. It's not just about space. There's the whole lightsaber fighting part and then there's so many different alien races…there's more ships and stuff and that.
Allyson Floyd
Star Trek
I used to watch Voyager together with my family when it was airing live and I really, really enjoyed the reboot with J.J. Abrams recently.
