If you're a true Star Wars fanboy or fanlady, you've had tickets to see The Force Awakens for well more than a month, and despite the convenience of advance ticketing and assigned theater seating, you've been left feeling a little robbed of the opportunity to devote an entire week to physically expressing your enthusiasm for the most important film-franchise sequel since, well, Episode One. (Sorry to be the one to bring that up.) If you missed the commotion in Hollywood for the premiere last night, there are still a few fun opportunities to revel in the gift that J.J. Abrams hath given us.

Recall the epic badness of the infamous Star Wars Christmas Special
It's well accepted that the 1978 Star Wars Christmas Special was a pretty big heap of shit — all the better for UCB to parody it. In peacetime, Chewbacca has fallen into a deep Wookiee depression and needs help from friends like Leia and Han to pull him out of the holiday doldrums. Comedians include Horatio Sanz, Joe Nunez, James Pumphrey, Cale Hartman and many others. What better way to spend Life Day? UCB Franklin, 5919 Franklin Ave., Hollywood; Thu., Dec. 17, 8 p.m.; $5. franklin.ucbtheatre.com/performance/43169. —Gwynedd Stuart

Practice your plastic swordplay at Lightsaber Battle L.A.

Fans of the Star Wars franchise are so amped about the release of The Force Awakens that you could be forgiven for asking, “Is that a light saber in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?” Tonight at Lightsaber Battle L.A., you’ll have your answer. Organizers expect thousands of Jedi and Sith to descend upon Pershing Square for this nocturnal battle between two make-believe factions of adult men with light-up plastic swords. (They’ll be in good company — associated events are happening in cities from San Diego to Seattle.) For stalwart Star Wars cosplayers who have their own sabers, the battle is free, but for 10 bucks, newbies can reserve a color-changing sword in advance to be picked up at downtown’s Hive Gallery. Pershing Square, 532 S. Olive St., downtown; Fri., Dec. 18, 8-11 p.m.; free, $10 with light saber. thelightbattle.com.  —Gwynedd Stuart

Let the Force be with your wallet
In advance of their annual Star Wars Holiday Party — replete with costume contest — Bar ONE Tap Room in Valley Village is hosting a Holiday Force Craft Fair. Not all of the vendors will be selling Star Wars–themed stuff (boo, hiss), but the organizers say that's “definitely the theme.” In addition to the costume contest, the night's festivities include a screening of the aforementioned Star Wars Christmas Special (with commentary) and holiday brews on tap. Bar ONE Tap Room, 12518 Burbank Blvd., Valley Village; Sat., Dec. 19, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; free. (818) 505-3870, bar1noho.com. —Gwynedd Stuart
