Legions of nerds will head to San Diego Comic-Con this summer not in their Scions, scooters or Priuses, as usual, but on-foot, with Star Wars lightsabers in hand.

In probably the most physical activity geeks have ever embarked upon, the Course of the Force lightsaber relay will take these human calculators from Santa Monica to San Diego for the convention that starts July 12.

Nerd chicks are so cute with laser swords in their hands:

It starts July 7, according to a statement:

Ashley Eckstein, voice of the character Ahsoka Tano in the hit television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will team with Nerdist Industries' founder Chris Hardwick and the Nerdist Channel's Alison Haislip to lead legions of Star Wars fans from Santa Monica to San Diego and into San Diego Comic-Con International …

It's all for a good cause — the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego, Greater Los Angeles, and Orange County and the Inland Empire.

The festivities will be broad cast on the Nerdist YouTube channel (of course).

Organizers are expecting 300 participants. The deal is that you run a quarter mile and hand off your saber.

It kicks off July July 7 at Santa Monica Pier and ends that night at Redondo Beach Pier before heading to Huntington Beach Pier, Oceanside Pier and Crystal Pier in San Diego's Pacific Beach in the following days.

The relay will wrap up at Balboa Park in San Diego.
