Marcos Mena: The best gig I ever saw was seeing this band from Japan called Loolowningen & The Far East Idiots.

It was at this bar in Pasadena called Old Towne Pub where my band standards used to play from time to time. There was a decent size crowd and the vibe was absolutely wild.

Loolowningen has an incredibly eclectic and all-over-the-place sound which was strange for the venue. Midway through the set some guy brought his super fluffy dog from the street and it was running around with a balloon tied to it.

The band was playing a song in 11/16 and then the dog started barking at the band. The band was barking back and they had a back and forth. It was unbelievably surreal. A fever dream but also just hands down the best gig I’ve been to. I found a photo of me with the dog, enjoy.
