PEE WEE FOREVER?

Not quite “forever,” but Stage Raw just learned that The Pee Wee Herman Show, originally slated for Nov. 8 – 29 at the Music Box @ The Fonda is now selling tickets through December 20th, due to overwhelming pre-sale. The show was born in 1981 at The Groundlings (reportedly after Paul Reubens, a.k.a. Pee Wee, was snubbed by that season's Saturday Night Live. Reubens' show transferred to the Roxy that year, where it played for five months,  was filmed by HBO, and Pee Wee became a national figure, the embodiment of our infantile inner-selves.

THIS COMING WEEKEND'S NEW REVIEWS include: Kit Steinkellner's Adeline's Play, presented by Los Angeles Theatre Ensemble at Santa Monica's Powerhouse Theatre; Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, at Sierra Madre Playhouse; a play about Oscar Wilde in Olio Theatre Company's presentation of Terra Taylor Knudson's Intimately Wilde, at the Lyric Theatre in Los Angeles; Colin Mitchell's Breaking and Entering at Theatre 40 on the Beverly Hills High School Campus; Gordon Bressack's new comedy, Fuggedaboutit! at Hollywood's Hudson Backstage; Legally Blonde The Musical at the Pantages; Tom Stanczyk's comedy about cops, Block Nine, at Hollywood's Lillian Theatre; Adam Bock's The Receptionist, featuring Megan Mullally and presented by Evidence Room at the Odyssey Theatre; Kinetic Theory Experimental Theatre's clown-poetry show, Outside of the Box, at the Attic Theatre in Los Angeles; and Classical Theatre Lab's production of Twelfth Night, outside Fiesta Hall in Hollywood's Plummer Park
