Sprinkles cupcakes just got a whole lot closer for beach-dwellers, with the temporary addition of a Sprinkles cupcake cart, to be parked in the lobby of the Shore Hotel in Santa Monica for four days over this weekend, from Friday, Feb. 14 to Monday, Feb. 17. The cupcakes will all be adorned with sugar decorations in the shapes of XOX and hearts – because, of course, today's Valentine's Day.

Inspired by the popularity of Magnolia Bakery in Manhattan, Candace and Charles Nelson opened the first Sprinkles in Beverly Hills in 2004, and now have three shops, including locations in DTLA and Newport Beach. Immediately successful, the husband-and-wife pair, both formerly investment bankers, became part of a national (and seemingly endless) trend.

The cart will be operating from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday and 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on Monday. There will be a variety of flavors, including red velvet, black and white, salty caramel and raspberry chocolate chip. Vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free choices will also be available. The cupcakes go for $3.75, which, if you think about it, is probably a better value than a dozen roses. Especially since you (or your beloved, or your favorite sixth-grader) can eat the cupcakes.
