It's no wonder that everyone tires of exercising. Most days, you can spot any number of Gatorade-drooling automatons mindlessly moving muscles (with abominable posture, no less) on the Stairmaster while riveted to the squawking boob tube mounted overhead. Pick up the pace and your spirits at the YAS-a-Thon Spin-a-Thon for ThinkCure! At any YAS (yoga and spinning) fitness center Venice, Silver Lake, downtown and Costa Mesa — a pro will take you on four fascinating hours of stationary cycling that'll just whiz by due to the energetic music and adrenaline-infused joie di vivre that's exuded by the gung-ho participants, who'll yelp and sing the time away while everyone raises money to help cure cancer. Not a serious spinner? Don't sweat it. There'll be breaks aplenty and refreshments. The emphasis is on fund-raising and fun. YAS founder and fitness pro Kimberly Fowler, a brain tumor survivor herself, will make the rounds at all the studios to guide and inspire. So spin yourself silly. Online sponsorships sign-ups are available at firstgiving.com. Sun., June 6, 1-4 p.m. (866) YAS-YOGA, go2yas.com for locations.
