So director Spike Jonze has made a feature-length film of the classic children's tale, Where the Wild Things Are. The book is a mere 10 sentences long, but from the looks of the trailer, Mr. Jonze has captured the book's charm and other-worldliness in a big way. Let's hope so anyway — because some of us are still shaking with anger at a certain Bo Welch for desecrating a movie version of The Cat in the Hat. Here's a special preview of the film, benefiting Dave Eggers' (he wrote the script) 826LA. The screening will be followed by a reception and Q&A with Jonez, Eggers and actors Catherine Keener and Max Records. Screening: $75; reception at Space 15 Twenty, 1520 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood; 10 p.m.-mid.; $200. Tickets: 826lascreenings.eventbrite.com.
