Illegal Street Racing Crash in Palmdale Results in 2 Fatalities

PALMDALE, CA (June 11, 2021) – Wednesday morning, Spechelle Pope and Lesther Deleon were killed in a hit-and-run crash on 11th Street.

According to the reports, the crash occurred around 12:30 a.m., in the area of  11th Street West and West Rancho Vista Boulevard.

The Sheriff’s Department of LA County stated that a speeding Dodge Challenger rear-ended a Toyota Corolla. As a result, the Corolla knocked over a light pole and killed two of its occupants inside.

Later on, authorities identified the deceased victim’s as Spechelle Pope (28) and Lesther Deleon (37). Palmdale Police believe that the suspect was part of an ongoing street racing at the time of the incident.

Officers later located the abandoned Challenger nearby. Witnesses claimed that the driver jumped into an Infiniti and sped away.

At this time, the hit-and-run crash remains under active investigation. Once available, more information will be released.
