Desert sage and psychedelic guitar conjurer Imaad Wasif will crack a few minds open during his month-long residency at Spaceland. This is not speculation. This is fact. Evidence: Something unusual happened this Monday after Wasif played Spaceland. For those who lived in this winding, mini-valley along Silver Lake, a curious sound arose late into the night. First a slow howl of a coyote echoed off the carports and bungalows lining this ravine, then two, three, four coyotes began howling and barking at the cloud-obscured stars. Yet, packs of wild coyotes seldom stroll through Silver Lake (not even to pick up sexy Corgies maxin' at the dog park). Instead, it was a pack of bead-wearing, psychotropic chomping human howlers who typically show up wherever Wasif may roam. Wasif is a wild thing, he even made some musical rumpus with Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Deerhunter's Bradford Cox, and “Little” Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs and Dead Weather on the score of Where the Wild Things Are. He begins an American tour with Dead Meadow in March, but don't miss the chance to howl with Imaad.
