When Placido Domingo calls you “the next Leontyne Price,” you know you've arrived. That's the compliment soprano Angel Blue received from the legendary tenor after participating in L.A. Opera's Domingo-Thornton Young Artist program, and she's gone on to an impressive international career. Blue, notes conductor Victor Vener, has graciously “found time in her busy schedule” to return to the California Philharmonic Orchestra for this week's concert, Andrew Lloyd Webber Goes to Italy. The title is somewhat misleading, as Lloyd Webber doesn't go anywhere; the program features excerpts from Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar, along with highlights from Verdi's Aida and La Traviata and Puccini's Tosca and Turandot — yup, you'll get your “Nessun Dorma,” sung by talented tenor Matthew Edwardsen. Other performers include baritone Ralph Cato, soprano Emily Dyer and the Cal Phil Chorale. L.A. County Arboretum, 301 N. Baldwin Ave., Arcadia; Sat., July 10, 7:30 p.m.; preceded by picnicking and live jazz, 5:30-7 p.m. Also at Walt Disney Concert Hall, 111 S.
