Now that MTV has completely given up on airing music videos in lieu of the most lethally unfunny comedy programming since the '70s, the Internet has taken up the mantle of turning everyone on to new music, and new music videos. In the tradition of “New Wave Theater” and “Mr. Mike's Mondo Video,” All Your Friends , presented by the first-ever Los Angeles Music Video Festival, showcases an hour's worth of new marriages of sound and vision from up-and-coming L.A. filmmakers and musicians. It's a teaser for an autumn festival that's purportedly larger and more complex in scope, so consider this merely a healthy appetizer for the main course. Expect interesting and oblique visual concepts intertwined with vibrant pop riffs, no-fi 8-bit scuzz rock insanity, and more fashionably dressed hipster fanatics than you can shake an American Apparel lawsuit at.
